Re: Sprats

I think my next experimental sea bait will be halibut boilies!

You never know till you try.

Re: Sprats

Sprat is a great bait, take it almost every where with me, Good thing is in the summer i know the blokes who work on the Spratters so i go down with buckets each night to fill the freezer.

They are a great all round bait, had some nice HUss on, some big whiting, and used whole even had mullet on. Best thing to do is fillet with your fingers and hook both fillets on your hook flesh side out and tie on with elastic.

Always worth havin a bag or two in the freezer, but only if you can stand the smelly!!

Re: Sprats

only my opinon but.......iv tryed them for cod , but found them to be crap (nearly as bad as blues...lol) dogs and pout just destroy it in seconds and even the lads i know on the bristol channel wrecken" why would a cod want a dead old sprat instead of the massive sholes of live fresh food." which have to say thay have a bloody good point

but i recon if i could get them live thay would be dealy for bass.but getting them live is a small problem

and as said above im shore thay are a wicked oily bait for scavengers like whiting, dabs, dogs, pout ect.....
and i might even try them out on blondes and spurs later on just to see what happens, but im not feeling to sure

cheers john
