Talking been a bloody good year, pings review of 2007

i'll put this in the sea section but will include some fresh as i seem to get arround a bit

just a quick review of what i thinks been a blinding year

pings reviewof 2007

Firstly I have met so many people through the forum this year either by lake.river canal or beach and can honestly say its been a pleasure to fish with everyone , and i've learnt more everytime, Thank you all
i wont even try to mention names as will miss people out and wouldnt mean too

there have definately been more highs than lows but
the year started on a low with the grounding of the napoli on my favourite beach, we all thought that was game over for the year, but thankfully although we are sure has lessened the fishing we still managed to find some fish there later in the year

memorable trips have included zander hunting in feb
pikeing and carping bury hill
trips to bristol channel
late nights at chesil and later nights at branscombe and jacobs
mini meet for the ray
almost anything to do with the wed night essa league(mostly socials with a hint of fishing) and some of the nutters in club generally
discovering the power of red bull for the above late nights

manageing to gett quite a few Pb.s
when manageing to get into the ray properly this year

also the smoothies

also seeing baggie and darren smiles after getting their first smoothies was very special

on the subject of smoothies what a turn out at selsey next year we will try to find the bigger fish as well tho, and a memorable drive home

other sessions for me have been some or the quieter ones like a trip to bury hill on own on willow lake and getting 5 species,
also meeting mates at bury hill main lake and then blanking as usual(mmm pattern here i think)
casual trips along the river with a stck float

big highlight was of cause the fantastic week in france
pity about the carp having their rumpy pumpy that week but what a social and steep learning curve and this catfish made it up for me

getting a stickle back at last,

and of course the pikeing early in year although seem to be struggling at moment on them

also getting some firsts
first ever seatrout in april

first ever cod in october

and manageing to scrabble 3rd overall for 2007in wed night league was a top result, even mrs p was chuffed

there is one nutter especially who for some reason or other still keeps coming out to godforsaken trips on beaches as 90% of the my trips are really team efforts (and onto the darkside)with me and thats the Baggie one, your a star mate(or just plain stupid)

sure there has been so so much more
massive thanks to all I have fished with or met in 2007 for a great year and heres to 2008 it can only get better

dave

and heres my fave pic of the whole year and i think what fishing is all about for me anyway
peace tranquility, nature at its best, and a top mate

Re: been a bloody good year, pings review of 2007

Great report, some nice fish there, one or two of those and you're soon reminded of why you go out in force 10 wind, sheet lightening and blizzards - and that's just the summer sessions

Re: been a bloody good year, pings review of 2007

Great post Dave, you have had a good year ....... your reports have been a great read ... keep 'em coming for next year !

A quick brief report on mine ...

For my 2nd full year - I have had quite a good one IMHO, nothing too special but all heading in the right direction ....
Over 100 sessions, about 10 blanks, A third place & second place and a fourth in the Nailors ... and of course the Smut 2007 Champion
Fished from Plymouth to Dover, Newcastle to the Bristol Channel ...

Some great sessions, including quite a few with blokes (and blokettes) off here (apart from Gullyworm - he keeps following me )

Best fish of the year .... probably ...

My 3 Stingers off Hayling
8lb Smoothound off Warsash
5lb Bass of Hayling
3lb Plaice off Southsea
2lb Red Mullet of Southsea

Targets for next year ...

A first in a comp !
A Double figure Bass or Smoothound

Roll on 2008 and good luck to all ...

Nice one, Dave. Cracking year you have had.

Was great to finally meet up in the summer. Definitely a trip of a life time and it still brings back great memories. I will hopefully be available for 2009 if we get something going for then.

Cracking report Dave.....some marvellous fish you have caught throughout the year.
It was always a pleasure and a great laugh to fish with you on the few occasions we have met this year.
Mainly for the pingu pies (just kidding)...and I'm looking forward to our trip to france next year.....I know it'll be a cracking week with a great bunch.
