Looking for a boat Hi everyone Im new here, and am looking into purchasing a boat, I have about £400 for the boat + trailer. i know it sound very hopeful but Im hoping maybe I will find something that will take me off shore for a bit of fun in the summer months. I was wondering if anyone knows where the best places are to look for such bargins in the Somerset area, I have tried ebay but have had no luck. If someone could advise me on where to look I would be very grateful. Cheers to everyone and best of luck for everyone fishing this winter. ![]()

Re: Looking for a boat When you say Offshore!, I take it that you really mean inshore. As I very much doubt that any boat that you purchase for £400 will take you anywhere outside a sheltered bay. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk

Re: Looking for a boat Hi, Welcome to the forum. www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk is worth a look, but make sure you inspect the boat yourself and try to buy locally. As I found out there is a lot more to taking a boat into tidal waters, even sheltered harbours and rivers than I expected and a lot more expense on basic safety gear, mooring or launching, maintenance etc than you might expect. It's worth doing some careful homework! There are also a lot of dodgy boats for sale and when your engine breaks down, or worse catches fire, there is no hard shoulder to pull over onto. Sorry, this sounds very off putting and having owned a boat, I wouldn't be without one. For £400, I think the best type to start out with would be a good second hand yacht tender with a small outboard. Anything more than this is likely to be a major project. Best of luck with your search. Cheers: John
