Hugh Stoker

Does anyone know if Hugh Stoker is still around? One of my heroes when i was a kid, physically that is, mentally i've never managed to get beyond 8!
I still have a couple of his books, i remember it was him, Digger Derrington, John Darling and Trevor Housby that were the catalysts for a lot of my angling.
Found a bit about Digger Derrington on the net, but would like to find out more about Trevor Housby, i know he had a "colourful" life! And his son now skippers one of the best big game boats in the world.
A friend of mine works in the hospital, and says he's sure he saw Hugh Stoker in there a couple of years back, as far as I know, he lived in Dorset somewhere, near Bridport I think...

Re: Hugh Stoker

I've got two books by him that are great! When I was a kid, I read them to death. Covered every bit of Sea fishing I needed. I was envious of his son who was always pictured with a huge fish, with his father by his side!

Not sure if he is still about!

Hi Mate,
I was fishing Golden Cap the other week and got talking to a local who was his fishing buddy. He told me Hugh died about 18 months ago, from Lukemia.

Hugh lived in the lane on the eastern edge of the caravan park at Seatown. His son and family live there now.

He was one of the greats in sea angling. But he was over 80, so not a bad innings. It's a shame that if you put Hugh Stoker Obituary into Google, nothing relevant comes up. And I don't remember anything in the sea angling mags, although I might have missed it.
