Re: a new way of groundbaiting for mullet? I heard that if mixed with fish oil was a good base for a ground bait for all sorts never tried it though. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck

Re: a new way of groundbaiting for mullet? Good thing about porridge is it leaves a VERY attractive slick. Must admit I did used it last three times I went after mullet and caught two of at least three+ pounds. No expert I freely admit but I just love catching even one a session. Mullet is latin for "Drive you mad" , no not really but it should be :) __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: a new way of groundbaiting for mullet? Hi lads, Christ I wish that I had seen this string years ago! I have been specialising on these canny buggers for over ten years now and contrary to popular belief the only thing hard about catching a thick lip is to get them feeding in the first place! I have always favoured cheap sliced bread pinched into small pieces rolled into balls so they sink, as a way of ground baiting. These then gradually break up as the crab get to it and float away slowly. It takes a few visits but when they get on this it really does liven up! In September which is the best time on my mark I have taken three around 4lb and lost a double at the bank. I love the sound of this porridge business, but how would you go about preparing it? would I just add hot water and work it to a thick paste, or use milk like you would yourself! Made stiff enough I can imagine it would deliver really well. Nice to see that there are still some of us still hooked on these wily ones. Anyone like advice on tackle set up etc give us a pm. best regards Big D __________________ THEY SAY HARD WORK NEVER KILLED ANYONE. WHY TAKE THE CHANCE? GONE FISHIN'.

Re: a new way of groundbaiting for mullet? I mash it in with the cheap bread and sea water . Don't actually use it one the hook thoug. If I can get away with it I make a batch very wet and just pour it on to the rocks so the incoming tied swills it around. It seem that the milky juice drives them nuts. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
