neap tides fish better than springs on the bristol channel. If your fishing b-o-s then fish what they call the lower light (lighthouse)if you dont know it once on the beach ask someone where the lowere light is and they will point you in the right place.hope this helps.or try severn beach off the wall as some codling have started to show there now.

cheerz howie,
i've not fished it but i know where the lower light mark is, i,ve just fished off the slipway at b.o.s fer a few hours,
i'm a bit more familiar with the severn beach area coz its closer,
which do you recon is the best bit there ?, above the new bridge at new passage, or below it?

any advice would be helpfull, ta, gj.

Hello mate well b-o-s fishies well as does severn beach. If you fish evern beach then,as you will know follow the road through avonmouth keep on going then you will see a sign for severnbeach.drive into severn beach and then you will come to the sea wall you can either fish of the sea wall(get their in plenty of time 3hrs before hi tide) or if it's packed then fish the beach.I've had some nice fish off the wall and on the beach mate.if you fish the beac you will see a small ramp going onto the beach and just fish to the right a couple of yards cast out 100yrds and this will put you where the fish will be feeding.
Best bait lug tipped with half a peeler will get you the fish on the beach mate
hope this helps
tight lines mate
howie
ps where the lower light is you can fish anywhere along that stretch as long as it's a small tide

Re: venue info plz, burnham on sea.

so i hear ian,
i spent most of last autumn/winter fruitlessly chaseing those elusive bloody codling as conditions looked half right from venue to venue,
they always seem to avoid me like the plague.

i've still got a half dozen or so species to target for points yet besides codling.
so thats ;- 9 for us plus the 17 1/2 ? on your list which hopefully should push the moonrakers well up the board .

codling have always been a holy grail for me, a bit like bass were
for baggie, so i'll probably get a little obsessed with em again now they're starting to show here n there.

mmmmmmmmmmmn......... tomorow night,9pm-0400, neaps....chesil or severn beach..or a solent ebb tide. i'll see what the weather's up too tomorra , i recon chesil will be lumpy.

Give this a go mate, loads of advice on all the Bristol Channel marks but the catch reports are a little sparse. Bristol Channel Angling

There are usually a few catch reports on the Veals site too.

Don't think the cod are really about yet but the summer species are still around.

Hey pross their are cod/codling around the channel right now as we speak mate, depends on where you fish.but the english side of the channel is fishing ok as their has been some good repors of some cod to 12lb being landed and loads of 2,3lbers now.not all the info comes to fishing forums as some people are old school and dont have comps to help them out, they just go out and fish the channel and catch some nice fish(trust me their are fish about on the bristol channel now)if you know where to fish for them, and the correct bait to use this time of year
tight lines all
howie
