hunting my 1st trigger

well x-mas is coming and time is running out , so id love to bag my 1st trigger fish.
iv tryed a few patchs of rough ground but no luck
im going out tomorrow nab / selsey way on a friends boat, so any help would be greatly excepted

although i cant help you with the boat i do know how to catch them from the shore. ive caught 80 this month alone with maybe close to almost 200 in the past 3 months. smallest being 2lb. i couldnt catch 1 for the life of me until i met an old guy on a pier who showed me aswell. he actually looked like captain birdseye

use a 2 hook rig about 30" long. hook lenghts about 10" each. size 6 hooks but make them strong with around 30lb line. triggers got nasty teeth. use 1" strips of squid or whole party squid. dont bother removing the skin. ive found no difference in catch rate at all. drop the bait near a pier strut or rock face and lower until you can just see the top bait and move as if you were feathering on a boat. (around here its about 2-3 ft down). if you dont get a take straight away drop it to the bottom a few times to tease them out of the holes. its that simple i got loads of pics if i could just remember how to post them
