| need advice chosing new line hi guys im looking for a new line for my mullet fishing and as normal i dunno which one to choose!!.. fished today and had 3 mullet to around 3lb anyway.. the flurocarbon... x-line seems to be the stuff that is winning my attention and i have ordered some but i have heard mixed reports on the fact that its a very heavy line and sinks fairly quickly .. has anyone used this line? or heard these reports? if its going to be sinking quickly it will be no good with a light stick float for mullet fishing it will just drag the float back towards me and make striking that extra bit harder.so my plan B use the x-line as a hooklink.. (i would probably use a 6ft length of this).. and use berkley fireline crystal as the mainline.. but i dont know anyone using the fireline crystal so i dont know what this stuff is like for floating ect all i do know is its damn expensive!! any advice would be greatfully recieved __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

| X line Quote:
Yes it is heavy line which makes it idea for lake fishing as you can sink it well creating a safty zone. Not sure on the float side of things but just put it in water next to a normal line or braid and you will see the difference You can get 600m for 19.99 which is brill for a years fishing ( pm me ) Hope this helps ![]() __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: need advice chosing new line ooooh *rushes off to pm richard* lol thanks mate yes it helps i have thought about line grease and hoping this will make the stuff a bit more buoyant for float fishing... but what does line grease do to flurocarbon? i dont want to buy a spool of 6lb line and ruin it with line grease! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

| Re: need advice chosing new line I'm not convinced of flouro's $ weigh out use. I hear it can be difficult to cast too. Trilene XL is my "go-to" line for surface(XT would be good too). And Cajun "Cast" red line(like XL but red) for deeper water. I haven't tried Cajun "Lightning"(similar to XL) or "Advantage" http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/co...ene+&noImage=0 Good luck __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: need advice chosing new line well not really concerned about the casting side of it as most of my mullet fishing is done within a rods length of the wall.. so no problems with that.. only ever seen one guy use the braid for mullet and they wouldnt go near his bait.. obviously they could see the braid and were spooked .. which is why i was thinking of the fireline crystal.. 6lb braid.. with the flurocarbon hook lengths.. __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

| Re: need advice chosing new line ok brought myself some berkley fireline crystal today.. looks really good stuff.. have the x-line on order too so hopefully will get to test both....if the x-line proves to heavy i will just use it as a hooklength rather than a mainline __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |
