| take a look, and don't be quick to judge... Just take a look at this link - then try to not be too harsh... http://www.worldseafishing.com/forum...ad.php?t=79269 Personally, I think it's very sad - more should be done to educate people? Why oh why do they insist on calling them SEABASS? - it's a bass, simple as that! He's lucky a DEFRA guy wasn't around while knocking these immature fish on the head... EDUCATION... |

| Re: take a look, and don't be quick to judge... The thing is Paul - he actually thought what he was doing was fine! What if a rep from DEFRA turned up and threatened to fine him £2000 - PER FISH? He wouldn't have a clue why! He's even posted with a pic, on a national forum, thinking what he had caught and killed was ok - the mind boggles! |

| Re: take a look, and don't be quick to judge... Like I say - don't be too quick to judge guys - I think he genuinly didn't know that these fish have size limits! - Bass are one of the UK's sport fish that are beginning to at last thrive - lets just hope that this is a one off... |

| Re: take a look, and don't be quick to judge... the picture isnt there no more.. or my pc aint showing it....but either way i think everyone has decided they were undersized! yes people need to be educated especially youngsters but from reading that i have a couple of arguments people where commenting on how long it takes for a bass to become mature enough to breed.. it takes a mullet just as long if not longer!.. yet you dont see anyone complaining about people killing them?!? it also riles me to see people complaining about netsman killing far more bass than shore anglers.. i worked for 5 years on a gill netter and believe me they dont catch half as many bass as you would think! but they do destroy complete shoals of mullet..(can you tell im a mullet fan yet?) pair trawlers are the main problem for the bass and these should be the ones directly hit... but my argument to upping the size limit....did anyone watch the program on the tv recently.. trawlermen? they showed the skipper crying because he had caught and killed all these lovely fish but they were either undersize or he was over his quota on the specific fish so he had to dump the lot DEAD back into the sea..its all well and good upping the size limit but it just means even more fish than before are going to be dumped dead because they are not allowed to land them its not going to conserve anything! ok finished ranting ... sorry .. __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

We really need to have a close season for all commercial fishing - especially during a spawn. Anglers/fishermen don't seem to understand that we/they do more harm by actually killing mature fish, than we do by killing undersize/immature fish. |

didnt america or canada do that for the cod fishing a few years ago? also seeing some of these people taking fish home they take far to many!.. i may take the odd mullet and a couple of mackeral every now and then... but ive seen guys catch 15 mullet and keep the lot.....what the heck are they gonna do with all them?.. is it just me that sticks to a plate size meal?.. far better to put them back and just take enough for what you need as and when you need it __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |
