Could this of been a record?

Hi all,
i was just wondering if this golden grey mullet i caught in southampton, hamble would of been a british record caught it on free lined peice of bread. i didnt weigh it as i didnt want too harm it so it would it hopefully breed more, it was released unharmed, here are the pics again...

Dan.

this is a thick lipped mullet weight-length measurements too give you an idea of how heavy it would be...

Length.....Girth....Weight KG....Weight Lbs...Eq Bass weight for length
47cm.......24cm.....1.154.............2.50........ ...........2.50
52cm.......31cm.....1.934.............4.25........ ...........3.25
52cm.......32cm.....1.926.............4.25........ ...........3.25
56cm.......35cm.....2.634.............5.80........ ...........4.00

it definitiley felt bigger than 47cm! around 55cm i would of thaught.

Re: Could this of been a record?

hey dan... very hard to tell from pictures... i will try and dig out the paper work from my record claim..(which i have given up on now by the way)...

my biggest golden grey is 3lb 11oz 12 drms and it was a confirmed golden grey from london i believe...but the british record comittee have taken so long setting it as a record and millions of phone calls later i have given up trying now...and ever since ive not bothered too kill the poor things..

if i can find the paper work though it does tell you how long the fish was and the girth ect... give me a few days and i will try and get back to you on it!

keep up the good work mulleting its great to see youngsters catching mullet

Re: Could this of been a record?

iv had a lot of mullet with tham same markings up to 9lb around the river dan so id say it was a thick lipped mullet m8 as i cant see them growing to that size ,

but if you do find out its a golden gray we both going to have to fight it out for the new record b4 the summer ends.....lol mmmmmm

summer .......did it even start
