thin lipped mullet

hi guys ... havent seen anyone on the forum targetting these but i would love to know if anyone does target them and if so which spinners do you find the best...i believe you use a blade with a short trace and a small hook and then a little ragworm?..

any tips/tactics would be good as i think ive found a place stuffed with these beauties!

i have caught them on a small spinner dave,perch spinners seem to work best for me often baited with a couple of maddies,i have also done well with the old faithful bread bag approach,roach tackle with a nice piece of flake is often irresistable to them although don't rule out the bread punch,i bagged up big time once a long time ago on it

wish i could help dave, the otters full of them and i have wasted days trying for them

the question is dave are they thin lips?... if there not then get yourself up there with floating crust.. but hide away further upsteam from them and let your crusts drift down over the shoal... all mullet in rivers are much hard than in the sea i think anyway..

Yep, I'd drink to that.

Have spent two days after them this year - one with small spinner and one with fly.

On both days I took a guest along (two different ones - both very good anglers) They elected for the "bread and roach tackle" approach. Zilch - but the mullet were there both days, saw plenty.

The sum total of my spinner and fly efforts was ONE slash at a green nymph on the second day.

I did get a thinlip for the hunt last year, but that was after about three days trying.
