| Real begginers. Those of us who think we know quite a bit about angling may sometimes not appreciate how little begginers know. Last week I was fishing next to a family who had bought a load of tackle and hadnt a clue what to do with it. The one lad had a 12 ft rod a fixed spool reel and feathers, I personaly dont approve of using feathers on a pier but I bit my lip and helped him set up. I got him going and went back to my rod ( I think i missed an 18lb bass). When i looked round he was sat on the sea wall, holding the rod, and watching his line. I had assumed he knew he had to reel the feathers in. I explained the principle and then noticed he was only casting out 20 yds. I offered to cast out for him and guess what, i only cast out 20 yds, the reason was he only had 20 yds of line! Foggy |

| Re: Real begginers. 20? Sounds like a money saving idea my brother would come up with! __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! Fishing: if it were easy, it'd be called "Catching" http://www.flickr.com/photos/omahayank/sets/ |

| Re: Real begginers. 18lb only about 2lbs from the record... use a thin diameter line when you are spinning plus it will hold more line... or you could use braid as it will lay flat and you can put lots of it on a spool, but it will cost a bit. what reel is it?
