| Put this in sea but is really applicable too all dont know if its just me(as been here ages but not as long as some) but the forums changed alot recently, not nasty like some other forums where you get shot down in flames for posting a mark or any advise etc but changed(has deinately been quieter for a few weeks now) some things arent posted so much now I:e rig/tackle questions as most questions you want answered you can search for as probably been asked by someone before but now catch reports are what people are asking for (or non catch reports )to ensure people avoid areas that are fishing badly(just as important i believe) there are 1000's of members now but only a regular 50/60 posters(usual for most forums really) also if people do ask for advise and then go and catch it would be nice too hear that the advise was worth it ,as i know i and some others have answered several requests and never known if that person did any good or not just the late night ramblings of a pingu high on redbull and coffee dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: how the forums changed for me anyway Know what you mean Dave. Ive not posted as much recently, although ive not done much fishing aswell. I feel i m repeating myself when i post catch reports and they must get pretty boring. I should maybe put something back into the forum like pics of my favourite rigs and how to make them or something ![]() __________________ One day i will post a catch report again. |

| Re: how the forums changed for me anyway I agree with Gullyworm, it's difficult to keep reports fresh & interesting when you are reporting on venues / species that you have reported on many times before. All i've had to report on recently is shed building & kitchen fitting, but hopefully that will change soon. One of the things that I enjoy most about this forum is meeting other members that you have been talking to for ages, but not met before. (Looking forward to seeing some new faces at the Smutt meet) I think it would be nice to get some forum tackle box stickers or sew on patches so that you can recognise other members when you see them on the riverbank / beach / peir etc. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| The forum has changed and I feel, not for the better, I am about to make myself really unpopular. For me, the forum has gone in one direction and that’s CARP. I recognise the immense popularity in this, and I loath the use of this word, sport but over the last year that’s all that seems to dominate the forum. The majority of the fluff chucker’s whose reports I loved to read, have all but gone. The sea anglers of us seem to go by more or less ignored except for a hand full of die hard posters, who show appreciation of a skill and art that nowadays, relies on something more that casting out, setting a bait alarm and laying back on a green couch in a bivvy. I recognise also the Smutt meet is well represented and rightly so but what I am talking about is the day to day postings. I have seen reports that go practically ignored except for a few comments other than those who were perhaps in the report in the first place. In fact our last meet at Beesands proved that. Nah, for me the forum has become clique. Anyone who just surfs on to the pages must notice this. I'm sorry if I have offended any individual but this has gnawed away at me for some time now. | Re: how the forums changed for me anyway I find myself agreeing with you Kiwi! ( sorry!)But the job I'm in now sees me just looking in while at I'm at my desk, but I will try and post when I can you can rest assure. I'm now doing my dream job, basically being paid to go fishing, tackle testing and writing about the sport I love. I don't think I'll ever leave the forum, as I've made some good pals here, I remember chatting to Richard when it first took off - and he subsequently asked me to be a mod! (...remember that 'Tope' guy Richard? you drove all the way to Dover to meet him - and he never turned up!) So, if it seems that I aint posting as much, never fear, I'm still here! I love reading the posts, reports etc - Dan (Norfolkboy - you also do a great job! fish of the month etc, organising stuff, reports and the like - you should be made an honourary member mate!). Times change, and I'm sure as night follows day, once winter arrives, cod bass, whiting and a host of other species, will take over from carp! Swings and roundabouts I suppose. long live the Forum. | Re: how the forums changed for me anyway I agree that as regulary post similar marks its inevitable that you do repeat alot of post I:e Jacobs again and again etc but when this place came on form a month back suddenly there were several members came and fished it (and mostly caught) who i am sure wouldnt have gone there had they not known so reports do get people fishing (ok i'm the luckiest sod here as missus is a diamond and i am out more than perhaps i should be ) think with the carp thing, yes there was a long thread, maybe way too long re the french trip, but hey you dont have too read those posts, and it has definately quietened down now trip is overbut on average there are as many sea posts as freshwater on the forum things will always change and move on , peoples lives etc anyway i believe more info = more fish as paul says sure will pick up again when the nasty weather arrives ![]() __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: how the forums changed for me anyway Paul, you deserve that job my friend. Sea fishing has to be really worked at these days and you demonstrate this perfectly. What can I say about Dan’s dedication? Please don’t find what I say next as patronising but for a guy of his age he is second to none, right back over the last three years. I have met some good friends on the forum from right back when I first joined three years ago and up to just a week ago, as well as those like you Paul and Dan that I still have yet to meet, (God help ya). Let’s hope you are right in what else you say. Cheers. Kiwi. __________________ Kia ora / Dia dhuit. - Matauranga kei ana kaha. | Re: how the forums changed for me anyway first of all, Thankyou for you kind comments Kiwi... But, what I do find refreshing, is that we can all have a chinwag, discussion, what ever you want to call it - and no-one is EVER shot down! We respect each and everyone's opinion, without predjudice - the forum and members must be applauded for that! Some other forums are full of petty arguing and bitching - making for bad atmosphere - Richard deserves every credit for making this forum not just a fishing discussion board, but a friendly community - well done mate - when we eventually meet, the first beers on me mate. ![]() |

| Re: how the forums changed for me anyway But Dave I like reading about Jacobs and any other report that is worth a read (Sea, Course and Game) but when a report with a blank result gets as many or if not more posts than one that doesn’t there has to be something amiss. As for the French trip, there were several year long threads that exclusively related to those who were going and at times it seemed to plague the forum. I did more than not read them; in fact I disappeared off the scene. Why, because everything else seemed to be all but ignored. Yes it has quietened down for now but it won’t be long before we have endless threads on kit checks and the like for next year. I’m sorry Dave but yawn yawn yawn. Ya pal Kiwi. BTW. Thanks for the advice and introduction to Jacobs!! __________________ Kia ora / Dia dhuit. - Matauranga kei ana kaha.
