Fishing Wales Tourist Board

Fishing in wales ? I have had a little chat with them and the Fishing Wales Tourist Board have been busy

Rhys wrote us a few words to tell us what they are upto

The Wales Tourist Board have recently produced 3 new brochures focused on all types of fishing.

Fishing Wales covers all types of fishing in an easy to read magazine style while Sea fishing Wales is a specialist guide focused on Sea Bass fishing, and Fly Fishing Wales is focused on those species that Wales is renound for the Sea Trout, Grayling and Wild Brown trout.

The brochures are available free of charge either by logging on to their website www.fishing.visitwales.com and fillinng in a webform under the brochure request page or by calling 08701 211 250.

The Website is also well worth a visit for the depth of info it offers such as fly patterns for Welsh Waters and reports and reviews of fisheries. You can sign up to recieve news updates from the site also.

Rhys

The sea fishing section is still in development on the marks section ect but still nice to see effort going in to promoting our sport . So good luck the Fishing section Wales Tourist Board

Re: Fishing Wales Tourist Board

Very useful to know. Still don't know many sea marks and also hoping to chase the brown trout a bit next season so will be paying the site a visit. Who knows, they may even have mark with fish unlike all the ones I currently go to!

Talking Re: Fishing Wales Tourist Board

Chaps,

I got these three brochures a few months ago and they have loads of information including hotels, contact numbers for launch sites etc etc.

This is one of the reasons I tried bassing a few weeks ago and caught my first bass - in a bloomin lovely desolate beach as well. However it was only one and not loads as they hint at in the brochures !!

Incidentally Ive been holidaying in Tenby for over twenty years and only ever caught one bass in my life when I was about 8 - I believe they are best targeted by live makeral off Caldey Island.

Either way there is a huge amount of rock and beach fishing throughout Wales and I for one will be spending more time there next summer and this winter..................

Re: Fishing Wales Tourist Board

I must admit I was talking to Carlton and his brother and we always go to the south coast - which is silly as it quicker to go to south wales to fish

So its time to start finding places to fish in wales

Old Smoothound only a pm away and Im sure some of the midland guys would be up for a trip as its a lot less fuel getting there

Can't get onto the Wye Foundation site. Not sure if is supreseded by the wye and Usk foundation site which unfortunately doesn't include any free fishing spots that I can see. Shame as I fancy trying the grayling.

If it's Grayling you'r after am planning a trip to the River Wyle near Warminster circa £20 day ticket, lots of fish and the Brownies take a grayling fly anyway (They don't know when the season for them finishes !!

I will phone my mate tomorrow from Wye Foundation and find out whats wrong.

Cheers
