Filleting Cuttlefish

soon as though its the cuttle fish season, everywhere i go i see dead cuttle fish, so i thaught i would give a go using cuttlefish but one problem... i dont have a clue how to fillet them any help would be very helpfull..

fishing them whole just slice along its back and pull the bone out
if not just slice it up like a squid

Or cut the head off, remove backbone and guts using your hand, (ink sack will stain skin for a couple of days) and you're left with a tube of flesh just like a squid, this you can freeze cut up or whole, it makes an excellent cod bait.

i have a feeling it will work wonders for bass at this time of the year when they are washed up

Just wondering....cut it in strips and rings too? Cut circular/moon shape to make it a swirl tail?

At this time of the year off the S E coast of Australia the Cuttlefish Breed ( it's Autumn Here) After mating they die and the dead bodies are devored by all manner of predators but mostly Snapper.They are also one of the best baits for 2 of the top saltwater sportfish ,Yellowtail Kingfish,& Mulloway. The latter can grow as big as 80lb, my biggest this year was caught in Sydney Harbour (under the Bridge) was 25lb.I remove the bone with my fingers by pushing on the pointy end ,the bone cuts through the skin just next to the head,then you pull it out.
