A fishy tale !!!! Boat fishing off Brighton Marina, caught some nice sea bream and mackerel. Got a big pull and missed the fish. When I was winding in the line to check the bait I saw this BIG Dover Sole following the bait almost to the surface. I dropped the bait (half a frozen sandelle) back into the water, right on his nose !!!. We both saw the fish take all the bait, it disappeared completely- right down the throat - and what did I do, got to excited struck immediately and pulled the hook and the bait right out without hooking it. Ive had fish follow the bait to the boat before and trout often take when you "liftof" but I have never actually seen the fish take the the bait like this, within a yard of the boat. Has anyone else experienced anything similar ????, Regards, DBM.

Re: A fishy tale !!!! In the summer on Worthing Pier its possible to catch flounders in clear water when you can see them by casting a bunch of red rag near it and then reel in really slowly. Often they will chase it and eventually will take it. Can catch golden grey mullet like that as well ![]()

Re: A fishy tale !!!! Strange but true !!!. Ive had (I think) a bass following the bait and making a last try at it and trout often take the fly just before it leaves the water, but this fish seemed to wait for me to present the bait again and then took it immediately !!! " Before your very eyes". So to speak. Regards, DBM. The one you lose is the one you remember.
