Advice on dingy fishing ?? Hi everyone Going fishing for a week in cornwall on saturday and my brother has brought a dingy and wants to try fishing from it. The dingy is a seahawk 400 and is about 10 ft long and 4 ft wide. Have any of you tryed doing this before? and do you have any advice ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thankyou Rob ![]()

Re: Advice on dingy fishing?? Local knowledge in King. As soon as you get there go to the local bait shop and ask where they recommend you fish. No other advice is better imo. __________________ Simon "4 Rods" TorbayFishing.Com - Beginners guide to sea fishing, news, reviews & more!

Re: Advice on dingy fishing?? Bouncer Hi, I think the seahawk is an inflateable and you don't mention any motor or backup motor. Trust me you don't want to be going out to sea in any boat that doesn't have at least 2 forms of power, and the normal backups of lifejackets, flares, radio etc. I fish from a boat regularly and and am often surprised by what the sea can do even after 35 years of it. Today I had to get my boat from someone elses mooring because both of my engines packed up last week. Be very careful. Stay safe, Jules. __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Fish from the shore or get a charter boat its still great fun Sorry to put a dampner on your idea but the sea is dangerous - just jump into your local pool with your clothes on add a 4 knot tide and drop the temp down to 8oc and see how long you last Have a great time in cornwall __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

Re: Advice on dingy fishing?? Hi Thanks for the warnings , you cant be to careful when it comes to the sea. There is no motor for the dingy but we do have oars and also we are going to tie the dingy with long waterproof rope to the beach so we dont drift. Has anyone ever tryed it before? we read in a book that it is a good way to fish. Thanks Rob ![]()

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ?? Don't do it, slight breeze, tide, no motor and the RNLI will chew you're ears off, If you're lucky.

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ?? Bouncer you are a worrying comrade. Just how big is this boat? What will you do if the rope slips or snaps and the wind/current is too strong for you to paddle against? Inflatables are notoriously difficult to paddle even on calm days. Nearly every RNLI advert you see says 'don't put inflatables on the sea' there is a very very good reason for this. I realise I sound like I'm trying to stop you having a great time, you will probably do it and have no problem.......BUT if you find yourself half way to the states remember this forum! Stay safe Jules __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ?? OK my fault just went to the first entry and saw its a seahawk 400 10' by 4'. Now I'm worried. I happen to know this boat very well as I have owned one for use as a tender in the river Teign. Inside the estuary where its very sheltered. Where I only had to paddle some 50 yards to my boat. Where twice last year I missed trips out because try as I might I couldn't get to my boat. Even though it was calm enough for me to want to go out. It is designed for messing around on rivers and lakes, Bouncer I hate to say it but its a toy. You catch a bass the spines will rip it to shreds. The RNLI are now empowered to take preventative action, if they find out your intending to put it on the sea they can come along and slash it, as they did last week to someone at Burnham. Please be safe...don't think theres been a death on the forum ...yet. Jules __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ?? Bouncer..............you have to take heed. This forum is renowned for its good advice and I can tell ya, there are some well experienced boatmen here that are really / genuinely concerned for you and yours mate. Simply the sea is a life taker, period. No one here would dream of patronising you but to us who are about the sea 24-7 (assuming you are not) these concerns are real. I hope your next post to this thread will be the one we are all hoping for and that is you have change your mind. Kind regards.
