Re: Advice on dingy fishing ??

Hi

Thanks for all the advice.

My dad was going to be on the beach so if there was any trouble he could pull us back in . The rope is only 100 ft long so we couldnt go out far .

Is 100 ft still dangerous?

Myself and my brother are both in our early 20s so 100 ft should be quite easy for us to swim ( tell me if im wrong ).

I think there is a good chance we will leave it anyway as everyone has said the same about it being very dangerous. We did know it was dangerous but we thought if we stuck to doing what i said then we would be safe.

Thanks
Rob

if the waters strong enought to be dangerouse to you in a dingy then even a strong swimmer would get washed away

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ??

Hi

We were only going to go out in the dingy if the sea was very calm but reading all of this has changed my mind . I can tell the people giving the advice do know what they are talking about .

My brother will not be pleased as he paid £120 on this dingy and all because he has a book saying that dingy fishing in the sea is good!! I cant remember what sea fishing book it is but you would think they would know better to advise people to do it .

Anyway thanks to everyone who gave advice, we will still have a brilliant time fishing off the beach and rocks and we may even go on a boat trip ( proper boat trip ).

Thanks
Rob

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ??

Where abouts in Cornwall? there's lots of charter boats, and they tend to be
alot cheaper midweek, gear can be hired, needed.

Have fun.

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ??

Mr Bouncer,

You've just made me a happy man.I know I'll still be talking to you at the end of the month!

I don't know whereabouts you're going, but if you guys are near Teignmouth next tuesday you can come out on my boat for a 4-5 hour trip after the old bass, you don't need gear as the boats full of stuff. Obviously I can't guarantee fish but 2 days ago we caught 7 bass 14 garfish and a shedload of mackerel.

You're welcome.

Regards, Jules.

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ??

I'm as pleased as you are Jules to reply #16.
This fella has made one hellova wise decision. Must admit I was really getting concerned.

I have only done boat fishing out from Dartmouth (charter boats) but the skippers always ensure that safety is paramount.

Just out of interest. What vessel do you have?

Re: Advice on dingy fishing ??

Now old Shetland 535, super seaworthy boat and has saved my skin on a couple of occasions. Keep thinking of upgrading her for one of these new french things but we go back a long way and you get kind of attached to the old cow and the wife! Covered in seagul stuff and I won't let anyone clean her because if some stealing person comes along I hope they're gonna go for the nice white shiny boat!

Kiwi, if you are near Teignmouth come out for a trip one day, I saw you were in the other thread yesterday so will understand no knives no guns, ok? We do catch loads but put most back.

Cheers, Jules
