| please help (Don’t let them charge us for the commercial fishermen’s sloppy seconds) I will keep this short and sweet to avoid boring you. Why should sea anglers have to pay a license or have a strategy (that could find them bound up in restrictions) forced on them? The commercial fleet have been so badly managed over the past 35 years and stocks of a lot of species have declined so much that most sea anglers don’t get to see a good days fishing. Issues such as bag limits, no take zones and dictating of the methods chosen by anglers could be imposed on them once a strategy is in place. These would not be accepted by sea anglers as it was the commercial fleet that have ruined our sport.Course anglers happily pay a licence fee and I understand why, the rivers are well kept and regually stocked. We feel that without more and bigger fish it would be grossly unfair to impose a strategy or make sea anglers pay a license without first producing more and bigger fish. Please take a few minutes to read my e- petition on the Number 10 Downing Street website. The link is below. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/seaanglerlisence/ If you agree then please sign. Thank you for taking the time to read my petition. Regards...Sam Cox |

| Re: please help Do they REALLY believe 1 sportsman, from shore, with 1 or 2 rods has that much, if any, effect on the ocean??? ![]() __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: please help I'm yet to see a proposal against the sea licence that stands up as a valid argument. each petition seems full of could's mights and what if's. The best argument yet has been that no licence should be implemented without the sea being stocked with bigger fish, er hello. Stocking a lake - relatively easy, Stocking the Sea - hmmm tricky. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck |

| Re: please help It's not the licence that I object to but that we will get nothing in return for it and the money collected will be wasted on administration and not improving our fishing. |

| Re: please help How do you know that you'll get nothing in return for the money? and how do you know it will all go on administration? I'm sure the proposal doesn't say that ![]() __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck |

I would be happier if the money was proposed to be used towards prosecuting illegal netters, stopping gill netting, enforcing exclusion zones, introducing more no fishing areas i.e. Lundy type environments,... as for stocking there experimenting with lobsters down in cornwall but thats because they have the support of the local commercials who fish specifically for them....most commercial netters no matter how good they are cannot stop juevenile or quota'd out fish from being caught and thus returned dead..... john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |

I dont care how the govenment provide more and bigger fish but stocking would not be the way to go. All they have to do is restrict the commercial in shore effot and as if by magic more and bigger fish would follow! |

Because its in the hands of DEFRA and their local sea fisheries commitees.Theyare the ones that have managed our fisheries so badly over the past thirty years! |
