| setting drag & clutch on multipliers Hi I've got a Penn 525GS and have trawled the internet about setting the clutch and drag on multipliers (or baitcasters). Some of it useful, some not. I'm just interested in what do you guys do. I'm hitting the south coast tonight (near Littlehampton), so any last minute advice muchly appreciated Cheers Rob |

| Re: setting drag & clutch on multipliers Setting the drag Do you have fish weighing scales? If so, thread your line onto the rod and tie the scales to the end of the line. Get someone to hold the scales and pull. Line should starting moving off the reel at about 1/3 of the breaking strain - i.e. if you have 15lb line then the scales should read 5lb when the line starts to move off the reel. It's not a precise science, but that's how I set mine. Braking Not sure about using the mags for braking as I don't have mag reels. I tend to tighten my spindle up and then back off until I start feel a slight side-to-side movement on the spindle. That seems to work for me (I have 2 brake blocks loaded on my 6500CT). If I'm casting into a strong headwind I'll add more braking. Hope that helps a little. Good luck tonight. Post your catch reports tomorrow __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season |
