limpits for sea fishing bait

Same here - Used limpets float fishing for wrasse with mixed results

Found them good if the tackle shop is closed and feel the need to fish

I only use fresh ones from the rocks

Sharp knife - gentle place next to the limpet and then a sharp knock of the hand and they come off easy

Just be careful with knifes whilst rocking as one slip and you have a new scare

I have two - nice but dim me

Re: sliper limpits??

I found some washed up last time out, mind you they stank summit rotten they had been there a few days me thinks. Baited em on me hook didnt need elastic they were that rotten and sticky, first two casts produced two bass about lb. No more limpetts left used rag didnt catch. Bye this time the tide came in and couldnt find any more limpetts.
So next time out at this venue i think i will be stocking up with rank goppin limpetts.

Re: sliper limpits ??

Caught a 2lb plus plaice using limpet but was probably sheer luck. That said, they are an easily available bait in any area with a few rocks so as others have also had luck with them and there are no bait shops near Challaborough I'll try them again on the weekend. Definately don't need bait elastic, once they're on they're on!!! Also, best to dig them out with a knife Ben as smashing them out is likely to damage the bait. Make sure you really clean the knife after though, that 2lb plaice cost me a very rusty pen knife! (worth it though).
