Re: power gum

power gum can be used instead of crimps on a trace. tie the gum into a stop knot but to be safe you can use a little superglue to ensure the gum doesnt slip. the main advantage of using power gum over crimps is that crimps when crimped too tightly will damage the line.

Re: power gum

you got it! but to be honest its an expensive way of buolding rigs and really unnecessary. yoiu can buy crimps in bulk really cheap and as long as you use proper crimping pliers and dont over tighten the crimps i find it a quicker, cheaper option than using gum. gum is brilliant for having a sliding stop knot (float-fishing mainly).

Re: power gum

for float fishing the lower the better coz you need the lower diameter to run through the rod rings as freely as possible. for use as bait stops it doesnt matter (can be used to stop big worm baits running up the snood length). i would go stronger for securing snoods in place. the glue makes it almost indestructable aswell!!! btw - the best glue for rig making again comes from the carp fraternity. fox doing glue that is completely waterproof and very very strong but unfortunately that aint cheap either!!!

Re: power gum

Watch that Superglue though, I got some in my eye a few weeks ago when tying on a new leader. I was stranded at Portland Bill for two hours unable to see. Yeah, I know it was a stupid thing to do but it shot into my eye when flicking off the excess glue, and I was wearing sunglasses.
