| Hi,Johnthedog, I've always wanted to fish Ferryside-I see the anglers when going on the train to Swansea. It seems an easy place to get to. I've fished a few times at Llanstephan on the opposite side of the estuary. There at low tide there is a channel not far out where you can get the bass, but the beach is mainly known for the flounder. They will take straight king rag,or better still,maddies-like a harbour rag. They also go for razorfish, but they seem to like baits tipped with something-maybe a bit of mackerel or squid.I assume they would take the same on your side. It may be as well to say that on a big tide the water comes in very fast. It's a lot flatter on your side than Llanstephan. I don't know if Ferryside comes in to the Carmarthen Bay,but a few years ago,MAFF stopped pps fishing deliberately for bass between March and October as it was classed as a nursery area.It may be a good idea to check-you don't want to be whopped with a big fine,eh? |

| Re: Carmarthen coast fishing Hi. I'm in Burry Port and thinking about taking up Sea Fishing. Replying to the comment about fishery restrictions on Sea Bass fishing I had seen the following document. There's a map showing Carmarthen Bay and further up the Burry inlet being nursery areas May to October. http://www.swsfc.org.uk/pdf_docs/SWS...nalfishing.pdf. However looks like the restrictions apply to Boat fishing only so maybe OK from the beach? Good to hear about the fishing near Ferryside. Sounds good. Very partial to Sea Bass myself. |
