Portland Spinning

Well the spinning season is nearly here and I have been reading Mike Ladle's Operation Sea Angler again and now I am itching to get out with the lures. If anyone wants to get out an wet a lure with me over the next few months please give me a call, the phone number can be found on the contact page on my business website www.silencers4u.co.uk.

Thanks

Jon

Thumbs up Re: Portland Spinning

I recon that a Forum lure fishing meet would be great fun. Maybe something like a pairs competition. I bought a Mike ladle spinning rod last year & so far have only used it for Pike, So i'm itching to try it for Bass & Pollack.

Re: Portland Spinning

Hi Greenhart

I have just emailed Mike Ladle to ask if I can link to his fishing diary from my site. I also invited him to come and fish some of my marks around Portland sometime, I'll let you know if he takes me up on the invite so you can come along.

The meet sounds great to me, we can make it an afternoon meet then have a bbq and a beer at our hut at the Bill.

Re: Portland Spinning

I just love wandering along the rocks with a pocket full of lures and casting every few yards to see what's about. I haven't been too successful but had a few schoolies and pollack. It's even nicer to catch them on home made lures. I'll be switching to braid this year as we have a new shop opened in Weymouth and they are doing braid for £4 for 100m.

Hi Sharpy

No, haven't heard from him yet but it would be great if he came along to the meet. Maybe you can invite him. Give me a shout when you want to go fishing as I need the practice. I don't do too well at beachcasting but am always happy to go out. Greenhill looked great for bass yesterday when I walked the dog on the beach, will have to get down there with some crab when it's windy.

Re: Portland Spinning

Hi Jon, I was thinking about going this weekend. Beachcasting not really an issue when it comes to bass. Close in and silent tends to be the best approach at certain marks. Big fish baits will still work, but switch to crab in the next couple of weeks.

I have live peeler, but they aint ready yet. The water temp is nearly good for them, so generally when mine start to crack I use crab. Simple solution but deadly.

All the best.
