| Alot of carp fishing is all about water craft. By this I mean understanding what goes on above the water and below. I've listed a few things to look for regarding water craft. Above water - islands (great location to intercept patrolling carp.) - over hanging trees or berry bushes (trees offer shade and protection berry bushes good for a natural food source) - reeds and weed beds (great for natural food) When picking a swim or an area of the lake I'm to fish I look for the following - where is there least pressure from other anglers - if there is a new wind I like to fish into it or on the back of an old wind - are there any fish showing - where have fish come from in the catch photos. Will always give you some idea. - what is the depth of water I'm fishing. Carp fishing at this time of year can be hard. Carp are cold blooded so slow down for the winter. The deeper water will be the warmest so I always try to fish the deeper water. In the summer I love surface fishing using dog biscuit or bread. The carp are easily seen. Hope this helps tj |
