| Spinning at Sandwell As ive changed agency work a bit slow on the school front bloody cuts ,anyway thought today id take advantage of the warm weather take a few lures over sandwell see what was about ,,,couldnt find my spinning rod what an idiot left it in my mates van after sea trip never mind ,i took my wychwood barble rod 1.75 test and didnt it just chuck a lure out great and the control over the top of weed beds was great even though its more adept to chucking maggot filled pigs and knocking out tench on the float ,any way i stuck a big s on and raked around in a deeper corner for a bit till i noticed a greeb fishing in the shallow corner and doing well he was ,,being warm i though thats where the pike will be in the sun catching some rays ,,i put on my fav bass lure cant rem the make prolly yozuri rapala or some make lol shallow diver ideal for just clipping the top of the weed and a great action kills the bass ,,3rd chuck among the weed the lure stopped dead then the unmistakable pull gave way to a bit of splashing as i played a jack pike to the shore great sport and barble rod was handling fine ,,unhooked the nicely marked wee fella had a smile then helped him back where in typicle pike fashion he sat and sulked for a few mins before flicking his tail and disapearing among the weed ,i finished the day with 3 in all i will only put the biggest on here just to say ive caught first of the season for me let the games begin look at the teeth lol massiv for a jack sandwell valley 5 min walk amazing fishing but a thinking anglers pool carp run to thirty tench 9 i did put some chub in 20 odd years ago and they do show up |
