Sounds about right for the Thames, was fishing in Molesey last year and had a boat racing his mate at all of 6 knots cut the corner 6ft from the bank and take all my lines despite the back leads - he got a running commentary of how upset I was for about 3/4 of a mile till I had exhasted the expletive dictionary.

Bloody hell, some people are just far from fit to be in this world.

A lake in slough (black park) a few weeks back got a bit crap, people fishing and young/teenage kids chucking stones right where peoples floats were, either the parents wernt about or they didnt care or think what there kids were doing. Good job its free fishing at that lake.

Have to say that 99% of the boaters seem fine further up where I am. I think the low bridges keep out the bigger gin palaces!

Almost all of them raise a hand as they go by, some of them slow right down as they're approaching my swim and steer over to the other side of the river. One 'captain' even laughed to me about how he hated boats when he's fishing!

My only complaint (so far) is the few ones who go belting by at full speed making huge waves and washing the banks away.

Very sorry to hear about what happened. Just really unlucky I think. There's a few badly-educated and thoughtless people around everywhere. Everyone has the right to use the river and it is best that we all have respect and tolerance for each other and help where we can.

How Rude, reminds me of the times we had our boat out in the solent fishing at anchor and was hit by a yottie and two other occasions where they hit our anchor rope.and their reply to us was we was in THEIR way.well the simple answer back to them is a nice fresh half side of mackeral thrown very high into their sails, the wind keeps it nice and tight and leaves them a lot of scubbing to do.Dont cost nothing to be polite
