| Piking blank but new PB! Yes the title is confusing, but read on. I went on my first proper piking session of the season yesterday. We didn't have much luck. There was gale forces winds and it rained the whole time. Bit of a nightmare but our umbrellas just about kept us sane! Only one pike caught unfortunately! at 4lb. Still pretty early for them I suppose so I'm not too annoyed. On a plus note, I got a new PB! An eel of 3lb! It took a mackerel tail that I had lying flat on the bottom! Bite alarm screamed off and we all thought I was into a decent pike! But it soon became apparent that this was no pike! My mate has the photo of it, so will stick one on here once he sends it to me. I looked up eel records there at the UK record is 11lb 2oz. Specimen weight is 3lb! So another specimen to add to the books! Very happy with that! Although I never want to catch another eel again!      |

| Re: Piking blank but new PB! I thought bream slime was bad! Eel slime is ridiculous lol I had to actually peel it off my hands, it was like silicone! And tryin to hold it just turned me, it was like a snake... Ughh |

| Re: Piking blank but new PB! lol old country method for eels, take a newspaper with you, wrap eel in paper, stops wrigglng, so i am led to believe, dont even try for eels myself, of any kind, cant be bothered with them __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity. |

| Re: Piking blank but new PB! just reminded me of 1 i caught from my local canal, weighed a couple of pounds, chappie moored opposite on a narrow boat, shouted over, good eel, can i have it, he duly came over with carrier bag, back he went to his boat, put the bag on the rear deck, his dog a jack russell, saw the bag move, and immediately attacked it, releasing the eel on the deck, man came up from below, pandimonium broke out, man trying to stop dog attacking eel, dog attacking from all directions, man grabbed eel, several times, dog bites man, man drops eel, eel now  , attacks man, man overboard. couldn't stop laughing, man in water, dog still attacking eel.had pack up, i wet meself laughing __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity. |
