| Re: Rivers - confused a little Oh right. I know Dutch and worked with Steve Ajao years back. I do a lot theatre stuff now as well as solo jazz stuff. ( weddings and corporate) I'm known mainly a bari/bass clarinet player but play the lot , including flute and picc etc. I'm sitting here writing this and my tenor is sitting next to me, been blowing though a few standards, which I've just done some backing tracks for. I'm into Getz, Dex, Mulligan all of them really. Works a bit thin on the ground at the mo so it looks like I'm back to teaching........ |

| Re: Rivers - confused a little That last comment is a good example of why I love fishing over here. A few months ago I was fishing Bark Camp Lake (a 52-acre, government-owned, public lake 25 minutes from me) with Tóño the Mexican and we were talking about how in this country there are so many pieces of public water that are well-maintained while in Mexico a lake in the middle of the forest would be exploited, the trees cut, and the wildlife captured or killed all for the sake of making money. In the county where I live, the towns of Norton, Wise, and Big Stone Gap charge a few dollars a year for a permit to fish their reservoirs, and there is a day ticket lake with channel catfish ($15 per person to fish, and you can keep five catfish per day for the table) near Appalachia. All other water here is accessible as long as you have a Virginia fishing license ($18), trout stamp ($18), and National Forest permit ($3). Many waters don't even require the trout and National Forest add-ons. Even in the major cities of Roanoke, Richmond, Bristol, Falls Church, Alexandria, Virginia Beach, and Lynchburg have many a location where a man can fish without joining a club or buying a day ticket. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner |
