| Re: Advice needed please Quote:
The Perch seemed to be preying on the small gudgeon and minnows that were in and around the stream so they would always be in the vicinity of the stream. Sometimes I took a small whip with me to catch small minnows and gudgeon from the mouth of the stream plus a rod baited with the minnows and gudgeon I had caught, after the Perch. There were also some nice Chub which used to hug tight to the far bank and occasionally enter the stream along its edge which I also fished for if I wasn’t after the Perch, either using minnows or using fresh caster. But both the Chub and the Perch where very wary and if there were people walking up and down the towpath they would often be absent or at least in hiding. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |

| Re: Advice needed please You could use a heavy ledger weight, I fish canal 90% of my outings and when I'm against heavy flow that's what I do. Give your line a bit of length and the current will play to your advantage by 'waggling' your bait about, this ads an extra attractiveness to the bait especially if you are using worm, which on canals I highly recommend. |
