Problems with reel and line Hi everyone, new member here with an old problem that wont go away. I recently bought a R2F Catfish Spincast to allow me to go for bigger fish. I went out on the lake today, and shortly after starting, the line pretty much exploded in my hand and left me with a handful of line. After fixing this, I continued fishing and the line again jumped out of the reel. This happened three times. After two hours of hardly fishing, I called it quits. The line kept on getting tangled in the reel and was having loops stick out of it... that wasn't the case when I left the house. Any ideas of how to correct this?

Re: Problems with reel and line Sounds like poor quality line to me too, it sounds like it is too stiff and springy. Try some more supple line (or braid) with less memory so that it doesn't spring off of the spool so easy. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)

Re: Problems with reel and line Could be how your loading your reel aswell.. I put my reel on my bottom section of rod, attach the line through the eyes to my reel, and put the spool of line in the kitchen sink full of water. Putting my finger on the line to keep some tension i reel the line onto my reel. The water helps to bed line better on the reel. Hope this helps. __________________ I don't care who you are, your not walking on water while i'm fishing. Species for 2011 Carp,Tench,Roach,Rudd,Perch,Eel

Re: Problems with reel and line Make sure you don't put the line on too tightly in the first place as it may not go back on quite as tightly at the bankside after reeling in. I made this mistake recently and ended up striping some line off.

Re: Problems with reel and line 2 very simple rules, 1, soak all line for 24 hours before putting on your spool,(this will let the line absorb some moisture and when i then drys out it gets tighter on the spool so less tangles) 2, ensure the line is on the right way round, i know it sounds mad but if you put it on the spool the wrong way it will be curly and springy. simple test for this it leaving the line in the water you soaked it in put your reel onto your but section of your rod, pull the line through the large eye on the rod and attached to the reel, wind the line onto the reel for a few turn then look, if the line is curly the reel of line is upside down, this will all be on the instruction when buying new line.
