looking for feedback

Hi everybody. I'm brand new here and have come to ask your opinions
on an idea I have been toying with for a while. The online fising games
are great for entertainment value but bears little reality to the fishing experience.
I'd like to fill that void with a quality real time browser based sim.
And I mean a reality sim, no smart graphics of underwater fish shots but the reality
of looking at a float bobbing on the screen hour after hour if the fish aren't bitting.
A game where you pit your wits against the fish as you would if standing on the riverbank.

Do you think there would be any demand for a sim like this?

Re: looking for feedback

Welcome to the forum Podge..

Who would want to spend hours sat in front of a fishing computer game ,when they can get out in the fresh air and pit their wits against fish for real !!!!

Re: looking for feedback

I don't think any game player would spend hours watching a float bobbing up and down. I certainly wouldn't except when I go fishing, lol.

If you could introduce watercraft where you need to look for areas where the fish are/may be and cast into those areas to get a bite then it would be more realistic.
You'd also need to be able to find underwater features where food would drift under certain weather conditions.
So you would need to have variable weather conditions, fish patrol areas, a choice of baits and watercraft and fish that would eat under certain conditions (and more often than in real life).

Some one who plays a game wants to play not sit there for hours watching the screen getting bored. I don't think there would be much demand for a game like that.

Re: looking for feedback

You could add the following additions to come packaged with the game.
1. An astro turf mat (slightly damp to be more realistic) 6ft x 6ft to sit on, plus 2 small potted shrubs or trees to sit either side of the computer.
2. A very hot halogen lamp, to stand behind your chair simulating the sun on the back of your neck.
3. A fan on your desk, rotating through 90 degrees to simulate the breeze, or if you want stormy conditions turn it up to highest level. To make it more realistic your missus could stand at the side and throw flies into the fan so they are blown into your face etc, or even better the occasional wasp to wake you up. She could also use a bottle spray occasionally to simulate the random rain shower.
4. A tape recording, which activates randomly simulating the idiot in the next swim to you having his bite alarm on full volume and messing around with it after every cast. Alternatively the tape could include footsteps approaching (loudly !!) and then a voice saying "Nah you dont do it that way, this is the way I do it and I always catch"
5. If you want a real FANTASY game you could add on the tape some more approaching footsteps and then a voice saying "Environment Agency - can I see your licence please" though this recording would only come up once in a blue moon!
6. A scratch and sniff card simulating, grass, flowers, sweaty bivvy, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, various boilies, smelly landing net and mat, and one particular scratch n sniff card for various fish dependant on what you catch in the sim.
7. A packet of already stale, warm sandwiches, and a flask of barely luke warm tea.
8. A dimmer fitted to the halogen light, so that it gradually dims and goes out, leaving you in the dark, signifying its time to pack up and stop playing the game.

Sorry Podge. couldnt resist my posting. I tend to just browse this forum, or other angling websites for hints and tips when not fishing. The only fishing game I thought was quite good was an console game, where you had a small reel, and had to simulate casting, and it vibrated etc, was good fun in short blasts.

What about a baliff that randomly appears and when they do £10 get deducted from your bank account.

Re: looking for feedback

I don't know if there'd be a demand for a simulator that just involved watching a float BUT and it's a big but, if you could come up with something that was a pretty accurate simulator of different species and venues then there might be .

Personally I think you'd need to make a pretty high end product and I wonder if this would be possible for anyone other than a big company like EA. Chances are that a simpler program would end up in the same class as such games as trophy bass, OK but quick to wear off.

Whatever, best of luck mate.

My suggestion is a random person who always comes up to you and says "Well you should have been here yesterday".....

Re: looking for feedback

You could include a Harry Enfield type guy in Camo gear popping up and saying "" You dont want to do it like ,ya wanna do it like this "
