got a lake..with fish...need some advice!

Hello guys (and gals!)

I have a half acre lake in devon at our animal sanctuary, it is stocked with fish but i have no idea how or what to do with it? its in a very sheltered spot there is a log cabin at the side an island lots of wildlife etc etc. Its stunning!

I am happy to let some fishermen come and fish the lake but not sure where to start, how much to charge (as a charity we could do with the added income) how many to let it to T&Cs etc etc..

Can anyone give me some advice?

My partner has fished in it a few times over the last 4 years and he was very excited about the amount and type of fish in there (foodball size head of a carp he said!) but running his own business and helping me with the charity and the animals he just does not have the time to go down and spend some good quality time finding out all its secrets. the lake was built some 25/30 years ago and stocked with fish from a near by river which was being pollutied and the fish where dieing, the neighbour rescued some of them and put them in the lake, so i really have no idea what is down there, its very deep in the middle and nathan has caught carp mirrored carp and golden orf (he thinks)

SOOOOOOOOO can anyone help me? >blond female in need of some help!)

thanks in advance.

You have a couple of options.

If you are wanting to advertise your water as a fishery, to paying customers (the general public), you will probably have to approach the Environment Agency. They will ask you to register your lake, as a fishery. This can cost...

You could approach a local fishing/angling society/club, that would be happy to pay rent, on your water.

Or run it, as a syndicate water, keeping it in house, hand picking the members yourself, to control numbers etc.

This is just an opinion. Others might recommend different.

Depending on the size of the lake, the society/club, could be the best option.

Good luck with your project, and try to enjoy it.
Any questions, just ask...
