I was sat reading this afternoon and reminiscing about the olden days when we used to bring a fish or 2 home for the pot (mainly perch /eel plus trout )

would you still do this /or do you still do this ?

I don't take anything for the table these days but in the past when a mate of mine was a navy chef and said he would cook it for us I took a small 3 or 4lb Carp for the table and another time I took a small Pike for the table to try it.
I wasn't over keen on the Pike but I enjoyed the Carp.

I remember reading about the Gudgeon Partiies that they used to have on the banks of the river Thames a century or two ago where they cooked the gudgeon in a pan like spratts.
I also read that one of the tastiest fish in our waters was the Perch, and that the Pike was once deemed better than Salmon and was more expensive than Salmon as well, Strange how tastes have changed over the last few centuries isn't it.

none of the local waters i fish allow nick

have had pike , bream and zander all were ok

but a said no can do

i've eaten pike, trout , eels , greyling from the test
and bass, cod,dabs sole bream gurnard eels, conger eels, pout, whiteing , plaice (remember them

) herring and lots and lots of flounder and all kinds of others from the sea.
