Re: Which Pole!!!! I actually work in Colchester, so I use Wass's for ease. As 90% of my fishing is done in Ely area I use Benwick tackle in Soham. Bird's tackle Ipswich area. Gone fishing on Canvey Island is top quality.

Re: Which Pole!!!! Hi Wolfy, i would advise that you try one out before you buy. Pole are like rods they are designed for different styles for fishing. and can be very light at 13mtrs or nigh on impoosible to hold at 13mtrs. Most good tackle shops will allow you to set one up and have afeel of the pole at it various lengths. I would avoid unknown brands and try and stick with the mainstream, you don't have to pay a fortune for a good pole. I feel that if you are starting out on pole fishing then something beetween 12.5mtrs and 13 mtrs is a good starting point especially if you are fishing canals so you can reach the far shelf or margin. Another point always worth considering is Spares, if you break a section you don't want to be paying out hundreds of pounds for it or haveing to wait 3 months for it to arrive from china. Recommended Poles - MAP TKS125 13m Pole Maver Jurrassic Carp 12.5m Pole Maver Strong Arm 12.5m Pole Preston Carp-Active 13m Pole Preston Zyrium X 12.5m Pole All these retail at around £250 mark and have a good rep. But remember it not just the pole you need, it is the extras that you need with it as well. Spare top sets a good pole should come with at least 2 spares so look for that in the deal. Think about the elastic you will need, rigs, pole roller you will be surprised how much extra kit you will find you need. However, pole fishing is great fun and once you get used to it you will find that you start to use it as you main line of attack when you go fishing. I hope this helps, Steve __________________ Born to fish made to work

Re: Which Pole!!!! Excellent advice Steve, I 'll bear this all in mind. I've got a little time to make a decision as I won't get back on the canals until June next year. Birthday on the way, and dare I say it, Xmas is just on the horizon (where the hell is this year gone!) so fishing tackle vouchers are on the list. Best regards
