In search of a crockerton double

I am three sessions into my search for a crockerton double and yet again i blanked on the carp front caught plenty of slimy bream although i did hook into a carp within 5 mins but pulled out arghhh!. Used halibut pellet from peg 1 and then switched to peg 20 but still no luck. I ve invested in some boilies so will try them next time. Saw a couple of biggies looked 20lb+ cruising below the surface but couldnt tempt them with bread.
Thinking of trying Witham friary or todber next week as never fail to catch at todber. Then back to crockerton week after. Any tips from the crockerton
regulars greatly recieved.

Unlucky there. You could always try a zig rig a few feet under the surface they might be more confident to take it.

Re: In search of a crockerton double

Crockerton Can Be A Very Hard Lake At Times. The Other Week It Fished Its Head Off And Loads Of Doubles Came Out. Including A New Lake Record. The Carp Dont Feed In Crockerton When Its Really Hot. Remember Dont Over Feed. Try Stringers With Bollies. Or A Bigger Sized Cube Of Bacon Grill Under A Tree In Like Peg 8,9, 12, 13, 14 Or 15. Surface Fishing From Peg 20 Under The Tree On The Left Has Also Produced Lots Of Doubles Even 20's. Stick With It, There Deffinalty In There.

Re: In search of a crockerton double

Im planning an evening session next week fishing boilies over a scattering of pellets. Perhaps at that time the big uns will get off the surface and onto my hook! Pretty confident that i'll crack it by christmas though as like you say other people can do it so once i get a bit more familiar with the lake it will be easier. Also just bought a ticket for lafarge fished peg 3 for an hour and had 2 carp biggest at 5lb and a few perch skimmers etc on maggot. Off for a bit of grayling fishing tonight from my friends back garden. never caught a grayling so really looking forward to it then Big Hayes tomorrow.
