| Re: Sweetcorn I've been fishing sweetcorn this season and been quite successful with it, I've been fishing it on the float but on the bottom and had Rudd on the drop and also carp and bream. I've been flavouring and colouring my corn which could be a factor in my catch, I've got a recipe in my report. Battled the elements - Plus my Sweetcorn Recipe. If you try it let me know how it goes. | Re: Sweetcorn Quote:
The venue you are fishing. What type of swim you are fishing. What hook you are using. How you present the corn. What fish are in front of you in the margins. Whether you are spooking everything in your swim. Whether or not they are sick and tired of Corn. etc. That Pole you are using is a bit short at 3m are you sure it isn't a whip? Try using fresh 'Caster' on a size 18 hook or two caster on a size 16 hook, caster seems to generally catch the larger stamp of fish and most fish will take it. keep the caster in a bait box filled with water so that it doesn't start to float. If you start to catch lots of small fish on maggot try switching to caster on the hook and you will usually notice that the size of fish you are catching gets bigger. They are also a good bait for Tench, Crucians, Rudd, Roach, Bream etc. but you need to fire some out as feed 'little and often'. Other baits to try are Breadflake, small lively Redworms (not brandlings), or Pinkies (Bream love Pinkies) and Small pellets (soft or soaked pellets if fishing close in or even small pre-drilled hard pellets coated in halibut paste on a short hair might work if the Tench come in close to you). Because you are fishing right under your feet (using a 3m pole) you need to keep low and still so that you don't spook everything in your swim. Good luck and Tight Lines BB __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
