New fishing laws on taking fish

in anglers mail this week theres a part about new byelaws for rivers and stillwaters in england and wales.

wich are -

on rivers anglers can only take.

- up to 15 small fish ( up to 20cm) of barbel,chub,common bream,common carp,crucian carp,dace,perch,pike,roach,rudd,silver bream,smelt or tench.

- Up to two grayling of 30-38cm

- a single pike of up to 65 cm

Anglers can take unlimited

- "Tiddler" species,such as gudgeon.

- Non-native species,such as zander.

- Ornamental varieties of native species, such as ghost or koi carp.

So do non native species include Carp ?? as in mirror and common because these are non native

Surely King or common/mirror Carp are just derivitives of the Carp that have been here for many hundreds of years probably when the Romans came and later when the Monks kept them in their monastry stew ponds although they were a slightly different strain that we called 'Wild Carp' or Wildies; but just bred to increase their size and in the case of leathers/mirrors to reduce the number of scales for the table.

So I suspect that not being ornamental; they were not classed as non-native fish after having lived here for around 1900 years (albiet in their original form).

Great an accuse for foriegn Nationals to steel more fish, Rather than doing something about it the EA bury their heads in the Sand. What are we paying our liecence for. Ohh yeah i know bugger all GRRRRRRR.

Sorry about that, just winds me up. All i see is people abusing the sport we all love and care for and the angecy there to protect our sport doing nothing to stop it.

Its the same over here... Some people have started to take it into there own hands to issue 'warnings' to the FNs, but the authorites dont want to know
