Thank you for your reply Brian, I agree with you regarding sweetcorn as a bait for trout, I wouldn't use it on them either as i believe they cannot digest it. I used it last week on some lakes here at York and i had a cracking days fishing.

Trout in Colorado often each caddis fly larvae, sheathed in their twig casts. The can't digest the twigs, they just pass them through. Many fish ingest undigestible items such as mussel / clam shells, snail shells, etc. and just pass them through. I don't know that corn being indigestible to trout necessarily means it is harmful to them. Might be, might not. I've 'heard' corn can kill trout, but I haven't seen the science on it. Just sayin'.
