Re: Livebaiting i have in the distant past when carp were not quite so protected and prized,i those days it mattered not what species it was , as long as it was a livebait, nowadays , all my waters ban livebaits and i have got accustomed to using deads, so much so that when i visit other waters that permit the use of livebaits i never use them

Re: Livebaiting I don't often see small fingerling sized Carp in waters in my area but if I did and I wanted to use a livebait then as long as it not breaking any club rules I would have no qualms in using a small fingerling Carp, the same as any similar sized fish. Our club has bought small 2" to 5" Carp quite cheaply from our local fish suppliers in the past, unlike the larger Carp which seem to cost the earth. NB. I haven't used a livebait in the past 10 years anyway. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)

Re: Livebaiting Personaly I would never use. Carp as a cat bait. I only live bait with roach or rudd for pike as the local water allows it. I think for many it's a taboo subject tho. tj

Re: Livebaiting i have used small carp to 5lb for livebaits and would again, have also used tench to 3lb. This was fishing abroad. I still livebait for pike in this country and will use any fish up to approx 6" to me there is no difference between species. i even livebait for cod and bass when sea fishing

As long as any bait fish is humanely killed if not taken as a bait , Then take it home and you have a dead bait for next time |

Re: Livebaiting I would only use a Carp for livebait if it was no bigger than 5" or 6" but even then a deadbait or other type of bait would usually be my 1st choice. It's been years since I have used a livebait but I used to use Roach livebaits quite a lot for Pike. what about you Nick would you use a Carp for livebait? __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
