| Re: Time for a proper thread I think we'd all keep spending and spending if we could. It's funny because I was only thinking this the other day as I read yet another article in som Mag. The article was good and I did learn from it , I just couldn't help wondering what we were catching fish on the day before gizmo 34 came out ? The mags are definately heavily influenced by the producers because they are getting huge amounts of revenue in adverts etc. Hence the positive reviews for questionable gear. I think things do wear out and if you want to compete at the highest level you need to keep at the sharp end I guess. I'd love to spend a fortune on rods and reels and have found that , the stuff I'v egot, as old as most of it is, still does the job. Floats on the other hand , I have to stop myself ALL the time. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: Time for a proper thread I generally work on the principle of "If I don't know what it is, I probably don't need it" Everything else I tend to see if I can get it at a car boot or on Ebay etc. However, that said, I have found a similar tendancy to BB's. His is floats, mine is flies. They seem so cheap when you see them, but left unchecked you could spend a small fortune on them. I have now invested in a book of the most popular patterns (3 quid on Ebay) and am learning to tie my own freshwater flies to go with the saltwater flies I made earlier in the year. __________________ I am in shape.
