hey everyone i have just brought a new rod and real but my dad says that the reel arm isnt ment to lock on so according to him it is ment to flap around but i think it should lock on can anyone help cheers phil

If you talking about the bail arm when you open the bail arm it should lock into place but can be easly pulled back down but when in the up possistion when you crank the handle round the Bail arm should drop. I assume that you are very new to fishing, my advice would be to join a club and see if there is a section within the club that help those who are just starting with the hobby. Spend some time at some of the fishing venues talk to the anglers on the venue, be serious and ask them for advice, it even better when you do this on a club water as you will get to know the other anglers, remeber we all started somewhere and we all needed advice. if you take on this hobby and you enjoy it it will change your life.
