fish story (true one)

There are tons of whitefish and yellow perch. My most recent discovery while jigging for perch was enormous smallmouth bass that love my little white jig! yesterday I caught two 2 pounders and 25 perch as well as about 12 whitefish. Today I rowed my boat way out on the lake to this underwater plateau. I dropped my jig off the edge slowly slowly down it went, finally bump I touched bottom and noticed the depth dropping. I knew I was right on the edge of that structure perfect! Then all of a sudden my cell rang! It was my girlfriend watching me from the cabin letting me know I forgot my stringer on the deck. Damn I had a decision to make. Either row all the way back and get the stringer or let perch flop all over the bottom of the boat Then WHAMO!! Oh my god I didnt know if my 4 lb test mono would even bring him up he was hooked but I couldnt move him. I was deep about 55 feet I kept the tip up and loosened the drag just enough to prevent a big run from snapping all hope of even getting a look at this monster it must be a bass I thought to myself.Meanwhile Im still on the phone(speaker thankfully) my hands were full .I looked behind me and there it was. My trusty landing net. Slowly slowly I started gaining ground he was moving up but not without a awesome feat of resistance. And there he was a lunker 4.5 pound smallmouth I lifted my rod up high and he slid into my net. Got him!! Well my mind was made up I was rowing back to the cabin. Not for my stringer. For my an early lunch.. I filleted him up and baked it in foil on my george foreman grill with lemon pepper onion and pineapple chunks.,Delicious!! I still have another fillet and bits-n-pieces for dinner tonight. I love this lake. It has only just begun to reveal its deepest secrets and tasty dinner guests.
