Pop up rigs

Hi guys I have been looking at using a pop up rig as Im thinking of fishing a venue which is very weedy. I know that there is the chod rig but I'm not sure about it as in new to fishing and like to use lead clips for safety.

So I have found a rig on the Korda website which I like the look of as it's the same as my bottom rig but a pop up. It consists of using 2 bits if floating corn in a kind of blowback rig. With the mini o ring on the curve and a spiky shot on the hooklink so the hook etc is popping up.
Now here is my question on the pic it's a few cm off the lakebed but when I lol at chod rigs they pop up a good few inches can any pop up be popped up that far and when do you know how high to pop it up?
Do you want in just floating about so if it's in weed it's not fallen all they way to the bottom bed?
Or can they still work on gravel a few inches of the lakebed?

I fish , popped up 1/2/3/4/5.in chods up to 10.12 in ,, resting on weed , just above weed , even in the weed But a normally fish a critically balanced pop up so the hook just wafts in the water , I do this by pushing in lead or solder wire until it has balanced,The boilie

How hi , trial and error ,
look to see what depth the fish are patrolling at ,

Thanks for the reply in mags and that they say the chod is good as it can be cast anywhere and present well... But the rig I'm thinking of does it have the same characteristics? If say popped up 6 inches? Could I cast it at showing fish and be confident that it us sitting right? Or are the non tangle properties off the chod the fact it helicopter style?

a chod rig is just the old fashion silt rig mate , nothing new , fished it 30 yrs ago. as your using a pop up bait , it should be the right presentation

This is the rig I'm thinking if fishing as like I said it's the same as my bottom bait rig (which has been successful for me) but popped up.

The thing is when ppl talk about the chod they say you can chuck it anywhere without worry is this because of the lead position? Would the rig I want to try be the same?could I pop it up say 6 inches so it's above the weed?
Maybe I'm thinking to much into it's just once the lead sinks to the bottom of the lake bed won't the the hooklink be lying at a weird angle? Or will the spilt shot sink to the bottom and then the link to the bait will just sit vertically up?

It's just I want to be confident in my presentation in weedy areas

When your in the bath , take a rig with you and have a play with it to see how it STANDS IN THE WATER

Good idea! If it's really thick weed say 1ft high what rig would you use?

I would use a led in a bag of pellets with a pop up with a shot next to the eye of hook

Or a small method feeder both should sit on top of the weed
