Roach city and a few skimmers

well went to the leeds and liverpool canal yesterday and set up by the mile tunnel in foulridge its about two minutes from where i live, anyway i took along a friend who is a strict fly fisher man so out came the matchrods set up on 6lb main line with 3lb leaders tied to size 18 hooks and baited with a single maggot weather was holding and even a bit of blue sky was to be had .two minutes in a small roach for me then another and another (we had little copition who could catch the most)after 45 minutes i was 7 ,6 up on my mate so we called a break and went for a brew in the cafe on the wharf then the heavens opened so we were stuck inside for an hour or so ,rain stopped we were back on it within half an hour i had gone to 15 he was still on six ,then my swim went dead and his came alive with skimmer bream he was pulling them out for fun and pulled it back to 14 -15 to me any way i wanted some action so cast about six feet to the left of his swim and bingo more lovely roach i went on a mission and ended on 25 fish in four hours he ended on 22 fish it was probably one of the most enjoyable sessions ive had on this water and hope to repeat it soon and my mate now loves coarse fishing bargain
