getting worms at night

Other than take up the recorder and try a little 'snake charming' you could get some Junction Violet' from the chemist (can't remember the clinical name) you simply mix it with water in a watering can and sprinkle it over the lawn about half an hour before collecting.

They then will come right to the surface as they dislike it intensely. The main problem though is, you may get too many if you do return them at another part of the garden.

I assume we are talking lobworms here ? This is not fool proof but the way I do it is to trap the worm by putting your finger and applying pressure where it does in to it's hole rather than holding the worm. You'll feel it trying to get back in but keep the pressure on and it will eventually relax. When it does pull it out of it's hole quickly but carefully. You will loose a few and if it's a choice between killing the worm or letting it go, let it go. You can always have another crack at it another day. You may want to put soe fine sane (and I mean fine) or something else to stop your hands going slimy but worms aren't like slugs in that you don't get covered. best bait ever I reckon.

You could even put some fine sand or something else rather than put soe fine sane on. One day I'll poof raid my snails before I passed turn.

put some washing up liquid in a watering can of water , sprinkle over the ground and wait for them to come up on to the surface

Hello again it's just come to me. The clinical name is Permanganate of Potash which is used as a disinfectant as well as many others uses, mouth ulcer cure is one (it's a deep purple colour) it really is MAGIC at getting the worms to the surface in fact it is often used on bowling greens to REMOVE worms to prevent the surface being ruined by worm casts then of course they have to hand aerate the lawn.

By the way you do this during the day so there's no problem for you.

Anyway whatever you do good luck. I have a worm farm for both Dendo's and Lobs so I am OK.

Another alternative is to drive a fork down to the tang , not dat tang dat tang, and "twang" it. Doesn't work but makes you look a right numpty. No it does work but not all da time yall. What a youtube, great stuff.
