How can you 'Pop Up' a worm ?

Hi..

The bottom of a local pit I fish is very soft mud and I am convinced when I use a worm it takes advantage of it and decides to bury itself.

I would like to find a way to 'pop up' a worm but can only come up with using a bubble float which I don't think would be very successful. If you have any ideas I would be grateful as I think worms would be a better bait to use as I think we have educated carp and they seem to keep away from pellets and boilees no matter what flavour.

It has been suggested I 'blow up' the worm but hope they were joking!

I know there are pop up imitations but as I have a worm farm with worms the size of conger eels I would prefer to use them.

Thanks for any help and tight lines.

Pete

Sorry Ben this is EXACTLY what they said and thought 'surely they're joking', I know I am 'drowning' the worm anyway but to fill it with air heaven forbid, besides it would stop wriggling I'm sure.

Thanks for the reply.

the best way to pop up a worm is polystyrine balls just slide them onto shank of the hook works best with a long shank hook

Re: How can you 'Pop Up' a worm ?

I have used a syringe sold by a tackle shop, as a deadbait syringe, used for injected deadbaits with fish oils.
Some tackle dealers won't sell them, or are very careful who they sell to.
I think there are some fake worms, def other fake baits many of which are boyant, so combining one of them with a real worm may work

Thought about this (as I mentioned) but thought ball would 'get in the way'.

Thanks for the reply

Not keen on using a syringe at all but COMBINING an artificial worm with a REAL may do the trick but I will probably have to use a few due to the weight of the lobs I use, they are almost as big as the fish I catch. hi!

Thanks for the idea

P

have to agree i would inject it with air. Sorted in seconds. That is the perfect solution to your problem.
