New to Fishing. Hi guys. Well ive just taken up Fishing recently, saturday to be honest. Ive been Fishing around 2 times before that. My friend sold me some gear for £30. I got a pole which he bought for his birthday for £60 a brand new reel which has £49.99 still on the box and rod bag and other things so i think i got a good deal. I went yesterday for 8 hours and caught nothing I went with 3 other of my friends and out of us lot only 1 fish was caught so i dont feel so bad. Im basically just asking you guys for tips and expertise.Im looking to buy a rod for my reel so any rods around £20-£40 for a starter one would be great. Also whats best bait for certain fish i.e carp, barbel and other fish i will likely be catching, but i hope you can tell me alot more things than just type of bait. Thanks Zak.

Re: New to Fishing. Welcome to the sport Zac You have come to the right place to ask your questions mate there are some great lads on here, what i would say mate is don't expect to get great results at the start ( remember Rome was not built in a day ) keep plugging away and learn as you go along and them fish will soon flow. Speak soon mate. ![]()

Re: New to Fishing. That is probably the best way to look at it and it's refreshing to see someone thinking that way. probably the best first step is try to find a decent tackle shop near to you and patiently ask questions and listen. You do not need to start by spending a fortune though so use your common sense a bit. If someone is trying to sell you tons of gear best bet is walk away and post a question on here before you start spending a bomb on gear. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: New to Fishing. if you are fishing at a lake mate and you see a fellow angler catching regular go and speak to him and tell him you are new to the sport and ask him for any tips on how to catch on that lake. You will find mate that most people will help you. ![]()

Re: New to Fishing. Hi and welcome to the site. Sounds like a start. What are you useing as bait? Try maggots, worm, sweetcorn and lunchenmeat should get a few fish if your setup properly. Do you know how to use a plummet? If not have a search will help you get the right depht.
