Fly Fishing for coarse fish? Does anyone have any problems with people fly fishing for coarse fish such as carp and roach etc? I want to practice my casting and this seems the cheapest way and could be quite fun but I don't want to put other anglers backs up in the process. Has anyone done it or shouted abuse at those who do?

Re: Fly Fishing for coarse fish? I do quite a bit of fly fishing for carp, using a fly called a super bonio. I have not had any abuse, in fact I have had the opposite. Comments on how stylish it is, and being the gentleman that I am, having cat out, handed the rod to other anglers to have a go. Almost every fish will take a fly pattern, obviously pike/zander/perch will go for the more brightly coloured lures, but nymph patterns can be deadly for almost any species. Give it a go, its great fun. If you hunt down some of my posts, you can see the reports I have made. I plan on fly fishing for chub this weekend, using daddylonglegs patterns.

Re: Fly Fishing for coarse fish? I have cought a lot of coarse fish on fly in the river severn,, tip,, check the rules of the water you are going to fish, a lot of clubs do not allow artifical baits.
