On tidal waters, having plumbed the depth before a match at what intervals would you re-plumb the depth or would you just take a guess based on observation of water levels on your peg

You could make depth markers on a bank stick, and as thetide reaches each one, which could be an inch apart, you could adjust your rigs?
Then you would have an idea of how fast the tide is, however I think the speed of the tide would change as it goes through changes, slowing down as it reaches its peak?
